RICERCA E PROGETTO - Galassi, Mingozzi e Associati partnered with Rari Nantes Bologna to propose to the Castenaso municipal administration the construction of a swimming complex featuring an indoor pool and a summer outdoor pool in the area of the municipal sports center. In this area, the current Municipal Structural Plan calls for the expansion of the existing sports complex and the construction of a new public school complex, to integrate educational activities with sports and provide school-age children with a safe environment for social interaction. The proposed project, which was positively received by the Administration, involved, as a first step, an urban planning amendment to the Municipal Operational Plan. The swimming facility consists of a building of approximately 1,500 m², constructed with high energy efficiency and low environmental impact, featuring a pool certified for competitive swimming, and an outdoor area with an open-air pool for summer swimming.
Plans include the construction of a public parking lot and a bike-pedestrian path serving the entire sports area and the future school complex. The project engages with the surrounding context: specifically, the existing natural area, the presence of an irrigation canal, the orientation of the still-visible centuriation grid, and the enhancement of the ecological corridor and the bike path along the road north of the site.
